NEWS AT DENBIES AND EMILY'S BLOG
NOVEMBER 2010
Our youngsters are coming along nicely, Huey is now lunging and has a firm understanding of going forward ;-)
Louis has now been jumping twice at Merrist Wood and is getting much braver with the fillers and is quickly learning that no matter what the fences must be jumped. Looking forward to SJ at the end of the month on two consecutive days.
George is behaving himself 9 times out of 10. He's had a few evenings when the wind was howling where he couldn't control himself and the idea of starting him on ACP now the weather has set in seems like a good idea.
OCTOBER 2010
We took stock of 3 unbroken horses to back and produce for next year. Having had a fairly long trip to Ranmore they settled in very well and their education has now begun with the team long reining and lunging. So far Daisy looks to be very calm about the whole process with Huey showing a lot more character and very bold. The unnamed bay gelding was sent away to be broken by a friend who has a quiet yard which was ideal for this youngster having had very little handling.
Away from the yard I have been busy riding some other horses and doing some teaching. Louis is now becoming much more confident with show jumps and will go clear round jumping at Merrist Wood in November. Apache is going well for Lynne and Emily continues to help them on the flat.
George returned from Gloucestershire having spent nearly 3 weeks in recovery. We now start an intensive exercise regime, beginning with walking in hand twice a day for 6 weeks....wish me luck !!!
SEPTEMBER 2010
Improvements to the current 20X40 arena commenced in September and we are now pleased to say that the sand school no longer floods.
Emily's dressage horse was sent to Svend Kold to remove what was going to be 2 spinous processes but ended up needing 4 removed. The operation went well and if George hadn't of panicked coming round from sedation life would have been alot easier for him and Emily
AUGUST 2010
Apache
VII was placed 2nd at Tweseldown BE100, finishing on his dressage score of 28, clear SJ and XC inside the time and gaining
9 foundation points. Unfortunately for me this means he will go up for Sale as I was given the ride to produce him for eventing and to be sold on.
